Our History
Working to secure economic growth
and prosperity for Cleveland County citizens and
businesses has long been an important function of
the Cleveland County Chamber. In July of 2002, the
county’s economic development department was
officially integrated under the organizational
umbrella of the Cleveland County Chamber. The
purpose of the partnership is to combine resources
for economic development efforts.
The result of this vision is the
Cleveland County Chamber Economic Development
Partnership, which involves many public partners,
including Cleveland County, the Cleveland County
Sanitary District, the City of Kings Mountain, the
City of Shelby, and the Town of Boiling Springs.
By combining the resources of the
various local municipalities and the Chamber, the
available economic development staff has quadrupled,
several existing industry projects have been
announced, and at least two new companies have
commenced with plans to construct new facilities in
Cleveland County, with several others in due process
of relocating. Yet, the impact of the Economic
Development Partnership has not reached its full
potential.
