New Projects
For the first time ever, Cleveland County Tourism will be participating in the North Carolina Tourism Divisions cooperative marketing in national media.  We will run ads in Better Homes & Gardens, Parent Magazine and Ladies Home Journal for the month of December in the travel section highlighting North Carolina destinations.

Don’t forget the Livermush Expo on October 25!  The Travel Channel will be visiting us again to feature Livermush on the “Bizarre Foods” show.

Travel Council
The next Travel Council meeting will be October 28 at J. Oliver Coffee Shop in Kings Mountain at noon.  Bring your own lunch and enjoy a great coffee drink.  Travel Council serves as the “round table” for all the organizations, attractions and event coordinators of Cleveland County.  Everyone shares a meal together and updates the other groups about each organizations plans, events and issues.  Having a council where everyone has the same goals in mind and can share ideas, frustrations and build partnerships is a wonderful asset for Cleveland County.  RSVP is necessary by July 22 to Jackie@ClevelandChamber.org or 704-482-7882.

National Tourism Trends
Vacations have always been a welcomed source of rest and relaxation, yet a new survey reveals they are increasingly motivated by events of high "personal significance."  In a national survey of approximately 4,600 adults conducted by Ypartnership in June 2008, almost three-quarters (70 percent) revealed they have taken a vacation primarily to celebrate a special occasion. Adults less than 35 years of age (75 percent) were more likely to have taken such a vacation than adults over 55 years of age (69 percent).  To find out more, visit http://www.traveldailynews.com/pages/show_page/27143.
