Text Box: InterAction Text Box: What: Chamber Seminar Series - Diversity in the Workplace & Conflict Resolution Where: Council on Aging, Senior Center in Shelby When: October 29th, 8:30 am - 12:30 pm Who: Katherine Panther-Potemkin of Learning for Life Consultants will be presenting this month's topic. Enormous changes in the United States workforce and marketplace over the past years have brought together diverse people who previously may have had little or no opportunity to interact with one another.  This increasing diversity has carried with it new challenges and conflicts, and thus the need for skills in understanding “cultural” differences and effectively dealing with them.  In this seminar you will have the opportunity to expand your definition of what diversity is, to gain knowledge of the ways in which it impacts the workplace, to develop the ability to “see” another’s point of view, and to become informed about legal issues pertaining to diversity.  You will also explore various causes of the conflicts that inevitably arise from diversity’s “cultural collisions” and learn techniques for resolving conflicts in ways that keep the focus on the mission and goals of your workplace.
