Tourism Update
The new brochure display has been installed at the new Visitor Information Center at the Cleveland Mall.  If you haven’t been by the new center, stop in anytime Monday through Friday between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm.  Volunteers are being interviewed to help with guest services of the Visitor Center and also to help with events coming up this year.  The Tourism Division will have a Visitor Information booth at the Springs Alive Festival on April 19, the Foothills Merry-Go-Round Festival on April 26, the American Legion Baseball events August 12-26 and the Cleveland County Fair in October.

The new calendar of events has been released to the media and is available at www.TourClevelandCounty.com which is a page of the Chamber’s website.

Travel Council
The next Travel Council meeting will be April 29 at Hallelujah Acres at noon and lunch will be provided by our host.  Travel Council serves as the “round table” for all the organizations, attractions and event coordinators of Cleveland County.  Everyone shares a meal together and updates the other groups about each organizations plans, events and issues.  Having a council where everyone has the same goals in mind and can share ideas, frustrations and build partnerships is a wonderful asset for Cleveland County.
July 29 –Harvest Works, lunch sponsorship opportunity available
October 28 – J. Oliver’s Coffee Shop in Kings Mountain, lunch sponsorship opportunity available

Lunch is sponsored by Chamber member businesses and is always from a food service member in the county.  Sponsorship is $200 and interested organizations should contact Jackie at Jackie@ClevelandChamber.org or (704) 487-8521.

FREE Furniture Display Space Available
Furniture store members are encouraged to take advantage of a FREE display space at the Cleveland Mall.  The new Visitor Information Center located at the mall is in need of living room furniture and a writing desk to display in this prime traffic area.  The furniture store will have a recognition poster giving the name and location of the store where the furniture can be purchased.

Frame Masters Gallery will be taking advantage of this opportunity and has offered to decorate the space with the finishing touches to make the “living room” look and feel like a welcoming place for Cleveland County.  A beautiful print of the Carrousel Horses in Thompson Gardens was donated by Frame Masters and is on display in the Visitor Information Center.

Big Events Coming
Mark Woods, of the Tran Siberian Orchestra will be bringing the Electrify Your Strings program to Shelby for the third time on April 18 & 19, 2008.  Shelby is the only rural area that Mark brings this remarkable program and this year the Charlotte PBS station will be doing a documentary of Mark’s visit.   Sponsorship of this program not only assists the music program of Cleveland County Schools, but it comes with rewards for your business.  Sponsorship includes tickets in the reserved section of the auditorium, recognition of your business in the printed material and a mention as a sponsor on the PBS special.

Contact Jackie at Jackie@ClevelandChamber.org or (704) 487-8521 to find out sponsorship opportunities for other upcoming events.
