Laurie Mancuso, owner of Bellus Tu Spa in Kings Mountain, made a speech at the Chamber Board of Director's February meeting about her time as a Chamber member.  Below please read Laurie's testimonial.

"I stand before you today to tell you that besides having taken God as my business partner and having the loving support of my family and friends, I can say without hesitation that I have built my business through the Chamber.  I started out in a small room at a successful salon in Kings Mountain.  I expected to build my business based on the salon's clientele.  Little did I know that the majority of clients would come from Chamber members and referrals.  We moved to a larger facility within a 6 month period.  Last month, new chamber referrals totaled 19.

I have read that the goal of any Chamber is to help keep consumers informed; thus, becoming savvy and knowledgeable consumers by helping them with better buying decisions and avoiding becoming a victim of fraud.  How blessed I am to be included in this elite category, simply through Chamber membership.

For me as a business owner, the Chamber keeps me informed on what I need to run my business smoothly.  Lunchtime seminars are informative as well as affordable.

Chamber sites allow easy navigation using search functions to browse topics and categories.  Something I consider very valuable in this age of technology, especially if you're not quite sure of what you are looking for.

True to its word, the Chamber has enhanced the quality of life by welcoming me and uniting and promoting my business.  My business has thrived as a result of this effort.

One of the last things I learned in Esthetics School was that advertising is key to a successful business.  I have spent a small fortune on advertising.  I say to you without hesitation that the best money I have spent in advertising, is by becoming a chamber member, after all membership includes adverting in Chamber publications, free listing in the resource guide, and a free online business directory.

Recently I forwarded a humanitarian idea, and learned that committee participation and networking was highly supportive to me and other chamber businesses now involved in this idea.

In conclusion, I would say there is no reason why every new or existing business should not become a member, especially when the Chamber offers monthly draft payments rather than an all up front payment.

The theme for 2008 is "Whistles Don't Pull Trains."  I am proud to stand before you and tell you that I am lucky to be just one boxcar on this Cleveland County train.

Thank You."
