Text Box: The Business Education Alliance of Cleveland County:
Preparing students for careers while creating a better Cleveland County

The Business Education Alliance of Cleveland County is a community wide partnership between The Cleveland County Chamber of Commerce, Cleveland County Schools, Cleveland Community College, Gardner Webb University, and other businesses, industries, and groups interested in developing the young people of Cleveland County.  Members of the Alliance work together to develop a plan and implement strategies to help build our local workforce.  The first component of this plan is to provide students in Cleveland County with opportunities through work based learning including: internships, job shadowing, cooperative education, apprenticeships, class tours, and employees speaking to classes.  This will provide students with experiences unlike any classroom activity in which they normally participate.  One goal is to make students aware of the wonderful opportunities available to them in our county, and encourage them to work and live in Cleveland County following graduation.  We also want to inform students of the training necessary to pursue various careers.
The support and help of our local businesses are necessary to make this program a success.  We hope you will join The Business Education Alliance in an effort to improve our community beginning with our students in Cleveland County.

The Cleveland County Family YMCA Receives Grant from Colonel’s Kids
The Cleveland County Family YMCA is pleased to announce that KFC and Day Enterprises, Inc have made a donation of $2000 in grant monies for the “We Build People” annual support campaign. The money will be used to support the Afterschool programs at one of the YMCA six branches.
The Colonel’s Kids charity helps to make high-quality child care available to more families throughout the county. Did you know more than 29 million children have no place to go while their parents work? Nearly two-thirds of parents juggle multiple child care arrangements. More than 15 million people work during non-traditional hours and are in need of child care. Nine out of ten adults agree that finding affordable quality child care is difficult for most American families.

The Colonel’s Kids charity has teamed with the YMCA Child Care which is the largest not-for profit child care provider in the US. Together, we hope to provide families better access to high quality child care. The Cleveland County Family YMCA offers afterschool at the Dover Foundation YMCA, Girls Club YMCA, Kings Mountain Family YMCA, Ruby C. Hunt YMCA, Ebenezer Baptist Church and Rutherford County Schools.
