Text Box: InterAction Text Box:   As you probably know by now, the Chamber theme for 2008 is “WHISTLES DON’T PULL TRAINS.”  This is especially true of the five divisions of the Cleveland County Chamber.  They all hit the ground running at the beginning of the year.   The TRAVEL & TOURISM Division, led by Committee Chairman Charlie Holtzclaw, has already enjoyed a special event.  Jackie Sibley, Director of Travel & Tourism for the Chamber, has moved into her new office located at the Cleveland Mall.  Over 85 people attended the ribbon-cutting and Business After Hours on January 31st to celebrate the grand opening of this office.  This committee will continue aggressively marketing Cleveland County as a terrific tourism destination.   The MEMBERSHIP SERVICES Division, led by Committee Chairwoman Darlene Davis, has, in collaboration with Stephanie Trogdon, Vice President of Membership Services, established a three-fold objective:  1) continue recruiting new Chamber members; 2) focus on retention of existing member businesses; and 3) program development.  I am especially excited about the committee joining forces with Chamber Ambassadors to become a Chamber Prize Patrol.  This proactive event will be a random visit to five members each month to say ‘thank you for your membership in the Chamber’.  They will be wearing police officer hats, badges, and sunglasses, and will deliver baked goodies and an assortment of small prizes.  The first excursion in early February was well received, enjoyed, and appreciated by the businesses visited.   Next month I will update you on activities of the other divisions:  LEGISLATIVE ACTION Division, led by Committee Chairman Dr. Steve Thornburg; EDUCATION Division, led by Chairwoman Dr. Linda Hopper; and MARKETING/COMMUNICATIONS Division, led by Chairwoman Martha Bivins.   This train has left the station…ALL ABOARD!     SP
