Text Box: InterAction Text Box:  “Ready, Fire, Aim” has become the action sequence of daily decision-making today.  Businesses are expected to provide real-time responsiveness to the complex needs of customers, vendors, regulators, and employees.   How fast are the rules changing in your market?  How innovative or opportunistic are you?  Are you able to respond fast enough to win and grow?   Those who succeed with the rapid pace of execution today invariably practice three things:  they are focused; they are fast, and they are flexible.  There is no substitute for focus and the basic understanding of what differentiates your particular business.  Although there has been an explosion of technology tools to help improve productivity in this real-time world, they are not helpful if they interrupt your focus.   Today, consumers and customers expect to have it their way all the time.  A business can enjoy a dependable advantage if it has the capacity to reinvent itself before circumstances force it to.  To be fast enough, a business must identify and correct the factors that cause resistance to speed or drag.   Flexibility and resilience are important qualities to be able to sustain competitiveness.  Successful businesses find the adaptive solutions to success.  They have a culture with an expectation for organizational agility as well as continual communication of mission, values, and feedback on where corrective action is needed.   We can expect this business environment to persist and expand.  The future will continue to require frequent reinvention.  Is your business focused, fast, and flexible?       Steve Padgett 2008 Chamber Chairman
